GST InvoiceNow Is Mandatory. The Timeline Is Closer Than You Think.

GST InvoiceNow Is Mandatory. The Timeline Is Closer Than You Think.
What Changed in April 2026
From 1 April 2026, all businesses that newly register for GST are required to onboard InvoiceNow and transmit invoice data to IRAS in real time. This is part of a phased rollout extending to 2031, when the mandate will cover every GST-registered business in Singapore without exception.
Why 2031 Is Not as Far Away as It Feels
Five years sounds like a generous runway — until you account for what actually needs to happen. Switching to an InvoiceNow-compatible accounting system involves evaluating platforms, migrating historical data, reconfiguring invoicing workflows, training your team, and running parallel systems. That process realistically takes six to twelve months. Businesses that move early get implementation support and a measured pace. The ones that move late get queues, pressure, and less room for error.
What InvoiceNow-Ready Actually Means
InvoiceNow is Singapore's national e-invoicing framework, built on the international Peppol network. Your invoices are generated, transmitted, and received electronically in a standardised format — directly between systems, with a copy transmitted to IRAS automatically. GST filing becomes significantly simpler. Reconciliation becomes automatic rather than manual.
The Businesses Getting Ahead of This
The SMEs moving now are choosing the transition on their own terms — selecting the right system, migrating properly, building new habits gradually. They also start capturing operational benefits earlier: faster invoice processing, fewer disputes, simplified GST filing, and real-time receivables tracking without manual reconciliation.
A Note on Choosing the Right System
Not all accounting software is InvoiceNow-ready. The key question is whether the system is registered on the Peppol network and certified for GST InvoiceNow transmission in Singapore. Beyond compliance, look for a system that handles your full accounting workflow — so invoice data flows directly into your P&L, receivables, and GST returns without manual handling at any step.
The mandate is coming. The timeline is fixed. What remains within your control is when you decide to act on it.
