SME AI Impact Awards 2026 — The Roadmap, Not the Race

Singapore's first SME AI Impact Awards just opened for nominations. And the criteria tells you everything about where the government thinks AI adoption should be heading.

To qualify, your business needs to have deployed AI for at least six months — with clear, documented, measurable business outcomes. Not a pilot programme. Not a subscription to a generative AI tool. Real, operational AI that has changed how your business runs.

Most Singapore SMEs are not there yet. That is the honest truth.

But here is the thing: the award criteria is not a test you pass or fail. It is a mirror. It shows you exactly what serious AI adoption looks like — and how far most businesses still have to go.

The gap between 'we use AI' and 'AI has measurably improved our business outcomes' is where most SMEs currently sit. Recognizing that gap is the first step to closing it.

At OCi System, we work with smaller SMEs every day. What we see is not resistance to AI — it is uncertainty. Owners want to embrace it. They just do not know where to start, what to measure, or what 'good' looks like six months from now.

This award is a useful north star. Nominations open June 1 and close August 14. Winners are announced on October 13 at SMEs Go Digital Day.

You may not be ready to apply this year. That is fine. But use this as your roadmap. Start now, build deliberately, and measure everything. Because October 2027 is closer than it looks.
